Day 20

Double your pleasure, double your fun.

More questions from 'the novice'. What's the furthest distance I should be using my 50mm at? I have a hard time focusing clearly on Jackson when he is more than 10-15 feet away. Am I just using this lens 'wrong'? Thanks ladies!

Great question, Katherine! I'm curious about the same thing, since I'm new to using a 50mm. I look forward to reading what others say.

These pictures are really sweet! I especially love the second.

I have noticed the same thing. I've got a 35mm 1.8 and I can't focus if I'm not right on top of the subject. I thought it was me....or my wimpy (haha) camera! I'll be interested to read more comments.

I love these, they are so cute. Your problem with focusing is depth of field. I'm really bad at explaining this and still struggle big time with it too. You don't happen to be on Clickin Moms, are you? There's a great tutorial on it if you are and I can direct you to the thread. But if not, you should check out a depth of field calculator. You put in your camera, your aperture and how far you are from the subject and it tells you your amount of wiggle room you have to nailing your focus. Sorry that's the best explanation I got. Haha Like I said, I'm still struggling myself. Here's a good website though for the calculator. Hopefully someone else has a better explanation. :) http://www.dofmaster.com/dofjs.html

Oh and one more thing is that if you aperture is wide open, you have less wiggle room, so if you can close up that aperture to help yourself out. :)

It was brought to my attention that you don't have our button on your sidebar! On the Project page, step #4. :)

So, we have a little girl who lives across the street and is a month younger than Brendan. On their first play date I watched them crawling across the floor side by side...with his hand on her butt. :)
